This project is a continuation from the first one that we set up in 2004, the
project resulted a network of students forum Jakarta 32°C, a forum that facilitated
by ruangrupa. In 2004 the forum involving 8 universities, in 2006 we targeted
participation of 15 university/colleges in Jakarta.
This project aimed to become the starting point for the networking between the students. In This forum students can interact, exchange ideas and collaborated one another even if they were coming from different universities, and different disciplines, and it can produce new innovative and creative ideas. The forum focuses on students from any university/college in Jakarta who are working in a visual arts.
The project start from May 2006, with students
artworks data collection,
presentation forum, and workshop.
Untuk kedua kalinya ruangrupa & forum mahasiswa Jakarta 32°C menyelenggarakan kegiatan JAKARTA 32°C. Kegiatan ini merupakan event dua tahunan yang bertujuan untuk menampilkan karya-karya seni visual terbaru mahasiswa dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di Jakarta kepada publik yang lebih luas.
Kegiatan ini berlangsung sejak bulan Mei 2006; diawali dengan forum presentasi karya mahasiswa, workshop, pengkurasian serta seleksi karya yang akan dipresentasikan pada bulan Agustus 2006.
Terdapat 32 karya visual yang akan dipamerkan dalam bentuk: desain grafis, mode, lukis, drawing, instalasi, arsitek, grafis, performance art, film, video, dan fotografi.
Students’ Artworks data collection
ruangrupa together with the students forum conduct a research, networking and data collecting any visual art work; design, fine arts, film, video, photography, architecture, fashion, etc, that produced by the students. It will eventually showed to the broader public. This start from the ideas that university/college as a laboratories that produce countless artistic production and experimentation that never been shown to broader public. The aim is to bring those experimentation or achievement to broader public without any industrial/commercial intension that has been drive the education system in university in Jakarta.
Presentation Forum
Take place in ruangrupa, the students’ presentation forum organized weekly, and runs for 3 months before the actual show. In this forum students gather and presents their works or project to other students. The aim is to share and get critical ideas as a learning process from the meeting with other students from different discipline.

Workshop
July - August 2006 , at ruangrupa
This workshop that will run for one month involved Jakarta young artists and
students from various disciplines, in the workshop students can share ideas and
do a collaborative work. The workshop will focus on phenomenon of entertainment,
games (most street games for kids are gone because of lack of public space) and
how individual in Jakarta enjoy Jakarta as a place with its’ complexity.
From that starting point the participants of the workshop will interact, questioning,
inspired or inventing.

Forum mahasiswa Jakarta 32°C adalah sebuah forum mahasiswa Jakarta yang berdiri pada tahun 2004, difasilitasi oleh ruangrupa. Forum ini menjadi media bertemu bagi mahasiswa dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di Jakarta, khususnya yang berkreasi dalam bidang seni visual.
ruangrupa, sebuah artists’ initiative yang didirikan tahun 2000 oleh sekelompok seniman dari Jakarta. Organisasi nirlaba yang bergiat mengupayakan pertumbuhan kemajuan menggagaskan soal-soal seni rupa dalam lingkup luas kebudayaan melalui pengkajian ilmu-ilmu seni, telaah, dan pendokumentasian serta kerja-bersama di antara seniman dan cipta kreatifnya melalui pameran, program residensi seniman, art project dan workshop.
